As the 60th anniversary of the 2/28 massacre approaches, a second-generation Taiwanese- American is working on a film called "Formosa Betrayed" which is scheduled to be released in 2008. This movie has been heavily promoted through various websites and has become a challenge for the pan-blue alliance.
The movie is the brain-child of producer and actor Will Tiao, who grew up in Kansas with Taiwanese parents originally from Kaohsiung. Although shooting of the movie has not yet been completed, the upcoming anniversary of the 2/28 massacre has made "Formosa Betrayed" a darling of pan-green websites. Even slogans such as "Final Battle in 2008" have appeared on such websites. The movie is expected to influence the 2008 Taiwanese presidential elections, and pan-blue groups are already on alert.
The film tells a fictional story inspired by the murders of Chen Wen-Chen and Henry Liu. It discloses how the KMT Government used the Chinese mafia to oppress people who supported Taiwanese independence.
According to the website, Will Tiao graduated from Tufts University, majoring in International Relations, and also received a Master's degree in International Affairs from Columbia University. Tiao is also the recipient of a prestigious Fulbright scholarship.
